See what the vest of the alias “Diablo” said

During the operation that culminated in the capture of Alejandro Arias Monge, alias “Diablo”, in San Bernardino de Horquetas, Sarapiquí, the OIJ agents found a detail that caught their attention: a personalized bulletproof vest with the inscription “El Señor” on the chest.

The black tactical vest was equipped with modular straps, magazine compartments, and pockets for military equipment. According to authorities, it showed traces of dust and damage, evidence of the intense exchange of gunfire that occurred during the operation.

The inscription “The Lord” appears to be a reference to the rank or alias with which Arias Monge identified himself within his criminal organization, a structure linked to drug trafficking, contract killings and money laundering .

In addition to the vest, the OIJ seized a cache of weapons including FAL and AK-47 rifles, pistols, drones, and other tactical equipment. The operation left six officers wounded and resulted in the death of Ronnie Ríos Oconitrillo, alias “Coco Guácimo,” one of “Diablo’s” main associates.

The capture of Arias Monge marks the end of a years-long manhunt and confirms the reach of an organization that evolved from cattle rustling to become one of the most dangerous criminal networks in the country.
